Get to Know: Emergency Rental Assistance Program

April 14, 2021

After more than a year of enduring the Covid-19 pandemic, an estimated 11.3 percent of Maine households are not current on their rent. As individuals and families struggle with lower or lost income, a coalition of 2,272 organizations across the nation urged President Biden to extend a national moratorium on eviction first signed into law by President Trump. The deadline was pushed back to June, and President Biden recently allocated another $152 million to the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

MMCA Awarded Whole Family Services Grant

Midcoast Maine Community Action was awarded a competitive grant by the State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services Office for Family Independence. Early Head Start Home Visitor – Bath Area

Head Start + Early Head Start pivot to virtual classroom model

As the Covid-19 pandemic ramped up last March, Midcoast Maine Community Action’s Head Start + Early Head Start teams were open on a typical Monday when they learned that they’d be closed the very next day due to lockdown precautions. With no notice, they worked quickly to develop a plan to keep Head Start parents and children connected to learning and resources.

MMCA Provides Meals for Kids

April 10, 2020

Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA) is providing a meal program to serve children who are experiencing food insecurity at home during this difficult time. Any child under the age of 19 living in northern Cumberland, Sagadahoc or Lincoln County may benefit. Children do not have to be enrolled in Head Start to be a recipient of this program. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this program, we cannot provide meals to adults.
